18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018

The Indonesia Asian Games Organising Committee (INASGOC) appointed International Games Broadcast Services (IGBS) as the Host Broadcaster (HB) of the 18th Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018 in September 2017. With a proven track-record in major event host broadcast services, IGBS, a joint venture between HBS and IMG, took responsibility for the entire host broadcast operation to cover Asia’s biggest and most popular sports event.

IGBS’ appointment reflected the commitment of the Games’ governing body to deliver the highest standards of quality, consistency and innovation to create an engaging fan experience. IGBS was previously the host broadcaster of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha and was involved in the Games in Guangzhou in 2010 and Incheon in 2014. Providing a full ‘turn-key’ host broadcasting of the event, this included overall project management, full TV coverage of all live sports, International Broadcast Centre (IBC) design and operations, IBC-based production, broadcast venue operations and services to Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHBs) as well as relations with RHBs (Booking and Information). Internal support services such as logistics, legal, finance, HR and IT were also part of IGBS’ remits.

In line with its best practises, IGBS involved regional production teams to work alongside the company’s core team of experts. Five hundred students from Indonesian universities were also selected to be part of a Legacy Programme, thus allowing them to train in different broadcast positions during the 2018 Asian Games and take those experiences beyond into their future careers.
